Mooch News - December 2006
2006 has been full of changes and challenges. We have seen new people come into the studio and a new raft of projects:
Bright Sparks ? mooch is working with Gunpowder Park, part of the Lea Valley Parks group, on an Arts Council funded project to conduct research into urban viewpoints for wildlife. This unique scheme is enabling us to investigate current practice for viewing wildlife and how this can be looked at from fresh perspectives. The results of this will be published in Spring 2007.
Memorial Park - This is a project previously worked on by mooch. Designs were developed in 2003 for the gates and signs to this key green space in West Ham, East London and recently we have been asked to create a sculpture that marks the new Grassroots community centre and celebrates the Park?s rich history. This concept will be developed into Spring 2007.
Creative Foundation ? mooch has delivered a series of re-usable hoardings for the Creative Foundation in Folkestone, Kent that celebrate the talent of local artists and create a dynamic exhibition in the streets of this seaside town. Following a recent exhibition of the hoardings in the local Civic Centre the panels are now due to be placed over empty retail space, addressing eyesores and underlining the area?s creative regeneration.
Marks Gate ? mooch worked with local residents to identify aspirations for the green spaces in this North East London estate. This research led to the creation of designs for growing plant installations that define the area and celebrate the innovative composting initiative that is flourishing on this estate. This project is seeking funding for delivery into 2007.
All the above and more will be up on the projects section of the website in 2007 ? until then, Happy New Year!
